
Electrical
Engineer
The
Candidate
A University graduate, with a good
BEng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or a closely related
course), who has a good knowledge of and enthusiasm for Power Electronic
technology. The candidate will ideally have 3-5 years’ experience in the design
of power conversion products.
The Role
- Design, build and test power conversion circuits from
specifications and customer requirements.
- Select and evaluate components.
- Capture schematics and interface with PCB layout
engineer.
- Document design work and test results and provide
schematics, BOM’s, prototypes and test reports.
- Support product verification testing including EMI
and Safety.
- Prepare for design reviews.
- Work to agreed timelines & project plans.
- Interface with internal functions, customers and
suppliers.
- Drive an assigned project through from initial
concept to production.
- Introduce new products into manufacturing.
- Supervise junior engineers and technicians.
- Provide technical support for new and existing designs.
Competencies/Skills
- Sound knowledge of Power Electronics, Feedback
Control and Magnetics.
- Strong theoretical and practical Analog and Digital
design skills.
- Familiarity with various power conversion topologies;
flyback, forward, full-bridge, push-pull, etc.
- Good knowledge of power electronic devices.
- Hands-on work experience with SMPS design and
testing.
- Familiarity with power electronics lab equipment such
as Oscilloscopes etc.
- Good understanding of PCB design guidelines.
- Knowledge of international safety standards (eg
UL60950) and EMI standards (EN55022) advantageous.
- Knowledge of design tools such as Spice/Matlab
desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of product design and
qualification cycle.
- Experience of at least 2 complete life cycles of new
products.
- Good command of English and excellent communication
skills.
