Engineer
The
Candidate
A University graduate, with a good
BEng degree in Mechatronics,
Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related course), who has a good knowledge
of and enthusiasm for product development. The candidate will ideally have 3-5
years’ experience in a similar capacity in a power supply, rectifier or UPS
design environment.
The Role
- Generate mechanical design concepts for power
conversion products.
- Conversion of concept into detailed, producible parts
such as:-
- Sheet metal enclosures and
cabinets.
- Sub-system assemblies.
- Heat-sinks.
- DC cord-sets.
- Detailed 3D Modeling of injection-molded plastic
parts
- Use of Pro/ENGINEER and linked CAD Tools for
typically:-
- Detailed 3D Modeling of
complex aluminium die-castings.
- Detailed 3D Modeling of
injection-molded plastic parts.
- Detailed cable/harness
assemblies & connector systems.
- Detailed mechanical
arrangements of PCB assemblies.
- Detailed aluminium
extrusions.
- Prepare for design reviews.
- Understand design and system requirements of SMPS
products.
- Work to agreed timelines & project plans.
- Interface with internal functions, customers and
suppliers.
- Drive an assigned project through from initial
concept to production.
- Introduce new products into manufacturing.
- Supervise junior engineers and technicians.
- Provide technical support for new and existing
designs.
Competencies/Skills
- Good 3D CAD knowledge (knowledge of Pro-E will be an
advantage).
- Strong ability in product conceptualization, modeling
and design.
- Good knowledge of machining, sheet metal, casting,
extrusion and plastic molding manufacturing processes and materials.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing tolerances and
optimal design considerations.
- Knowledge and experience of product design and
qualification cycle.
- Experience of at least 2 complete life cycles of new
products.
- Good command of English and excellent communication
skills.
